As protesters in Los Angeles stand up to President Donald Trump’s intentionally provocative ICE raids, law enforcement is on hand to help:

Law enforcement officials fired tear gas and crowd-control ammunition at protesters in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, as Gov. Gavin Newsom of California accused the Trump administration of a “serious breach of state sovereignty” for ordering members of the National Guard to help quell demonstrations against an immigration crackdown.

Officers from the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the city police department fired crowd-control munitions at the protesters, who had gathered outside a detention center in downtown Los Angeles.

Local politicians who say they oppose ICE but continue to increase funding to the police are in denial of how their choices undermine the safety and freedom of their constituents and cannot be taken seriously as long-term strategic thinkers about their community’s safety.
