Abolition demands from each of us an understanding that we are part of the world around us, and that everything we do affects not just each other but also our non-human relatives. As Ruth Wilson Gilmore says, “freedom is a place.” That place is our bioregion and our ecosystem, but also our built environment– how we construct spaces to be safe and welcoming for all, and how we ensure that everyone has access to the places they need to flourish.
